Montgomery County is planning new infrastructure to address mental health emergencies, including a call center, mobile crisis unit, and a drop-off center for up to 23 hours of crisis care.
That effort will be paired with a new ability for people to call 988 in a mental health crisis, starting nationally July 16, as an easier-to-remember phone number than the 10-digit national suicide hotline.
